During winterization of my 2000 Mercury 175 EFI I went to put the spark plug back in after placing the 2 stroke oil in the cylinder and one of the spark plugs would not go in. I looked at the hole in the block and it looks like 2 threads a 1/4 of the way into the hole are stripped. I took...
I have a Procraft 190 Super Pro bass boat with a 2000 Mercury 175 efi 2 stroke. When I turn the key to start the motor there is no chirp of the alarm to tell me that the alarm is working. Is it possible that the previous owner disconnected the alarm or that it broke? If so where on the motor...
I have a 19' bass boat with a Motor Guide 80lb thrust 24v trolling motor on the bow. It has a 4 prong plug in on the front deck and the wires run to the back of the boat where there are 2 batteries. There are 4 positive and 4 negative wires. 2 positive and 2 negative wires are for the onboard...
I have a 2000 Mercury 175 EFI 2 stroke engine that I want to use seafoam on. What would be the best way to do it; through the intake, or directly into the cylinders? I took the cowling off my motor yesterday and don't know what I have to remove to get to the intake...I have never done this...
I just bought a new bass boat and my insurance company wants to know the value of the motor. It is a 2000 Mercury 175 EFI 2 stroke in excellent condition. very low hours and not a mark on the engine, it basically looks brand new. Can anyone give me a ballpark?
The repair manual for my outboard says to torque the power head bolts to 18-20 foot pounds. This calculates to 216-220 inch pounds. My torque wrench reads in inch pounds and goes to a max of 210. Does this sounds like a reasonable number to torque power head bolts to on a 5hp 4 stroke outboard?
I am in the process of replacing the head gasket on a 1999 evinrude 5hp 4 stroke. It is ready to go back together but i do not know what tightness to set my torque wrench to when putting in the head bolts. Does anyone know how many pounds per foot or inch it should be set to?
I have a 1999 evinrude 5hp 4 stroke that I am replacing the head gasket on. I just bought a click type torque wrench to put the motor back together but I do not know the correct pounds per foot that the head bolts need to be set to. Any advice would be great thanks!
A marina near me is selling a 2000 190 Super Pro by Procraft on consignment for $9,100. It has a 175hp Mercury EfI, full cover, matching trailer w/ spare, bow mount trolling motor, and 2 fishfinders. The boat is a ligh brown and green color with tan carpet. Overall it looks to be in very good...
I have a 1999 evinrude 5hp 4 stroke that I am doing a head gasket replacement on. I have been using brakleen to clean both sides and I think that it is ready for the gasket. Does anyone know if this looks clean enough? Also would anyone recommend using 3M gasket glue to apply to the head...
Hello,
I am looking to purchase a 2007 Sea Doo 150 Speedster from a marina near me. It has the 215hp supercharged engine, with only 57 hours on it. It is a one owner boat that was garage kept and looks brand new. It does not have the wakeboard tower or bimini top, but it has a trailer. Since...
I have a 1998 evinrude 5hp 4 stroke that I replaced the head gasket on. After putting the engine back together, I fired it up and water was leaking from the bottom of the head (where the gasket it). I took it apart and made sure that everything was sanded properly and put some sealant on the...
I am looking at a 2006 Boston Whaler 17 Montauk (freshwater, not bottom paint). It comes with a galvanized trailer a 90hp mercury 4 stroke. The engine had a new powerhead put on in 2010. The boat is in great shape inside (looks new). The outside has some spots that need to be buffed out but...
Last summer, my 1999 5hp evinrude 4 stroke was leaking oil from the midsection after being run for a while. I did a lot of research and I thought it was a bad head gasket. I just replaced the head gasket and put the motor back together properly. I went to start it up and it was running fine...
