    Rebuilding 1972 Merc Thunderbolt 800

    Hi everyone, I'm rebuilding a 1972 Mercury Thunderbult 800 powerhead, need to replace a piston on #3 cyl. There is slight scoring on cyl. wall. Putting it back together now. Should I use a gasket sealer on any of the gaskets, and if yes, what type of sealer is recommended. Thanks Bob

    1972 Merc 800 Thunderbolt bogs down in gear

    Hi, I have a 1972 Mercury 800 Thunderbolt outboard and when I put it in the water she starts ok and when I put it in gear she bogs down and dies, she idles good in neutral, I can rev her up good. Any help would be great. Thanks Bob
