The issue I'm having why I want to remove the flywheel is that the engine starts and runs fine, but then sometimes after 5 mins it feels like one of the cylinders is cutting out for a few seconds at a time.
Would that most likely be a points and condenser problem?
There's a bit broken on my fly wheel? Does it matter? It's a little fun, doesn't seem to do anything.
Also what size of bolts do I need to pull the flywheel?
Thanks
Looks like I had the wrong year, I looked at 1990 and it matches what I have which is just a plug.
I need to use the motor today, I'm guessing I can just use a 1/2" bolt to plug it?
I feel like I'm my engine 30 is the fuel inlet and 31 isn't a nipple it's a drain plug. Could that be correct? Does anyone know the size and thread of the drain plug? I need to plug this asap.
Long story short I came back from a dinner to find my dinghy with the fuel line disconnected and...
Hi,
I have a 1991 3hp, there appears to be 2 fuel nipples. Part 30 and part 31. Which one is the fuel inlet? I have the fuel line hooked up to the smaller nipple, part 30. But when I do I lose fuel through the missing part 31.
Why are there 2 nipples? Where should the fuel line go?
Let it sit over night. In the morning it still wouldn't run so decided it wasn't ignition components getting hot.
Cleaned the carb for a 3rd time, it looked fine inside, but once back on she fired up and ran well. Must have still been some crud in the system.
Cleaned the carb again, started her up, ran great for 30 seconds then like crap and wouldn't keep running. I'm going to let it sit over night then start again and see how it goes so I can tell if it's running poor once it gets warm.
Could this be points or coil? Or should I just clean the...
Hi,
I bought a 1990 3HP cdoe: e3bresr. It wasn't running but has 120psi on each cylinder.
I cleaned the carb out and put it back together. I can now get it started and it idles nicely enough. New fuel is in there and a pair of new RL82C plugs gapped at 0.035.
She starts up easy enough, and...
I measured the compression today at 75psi and 83psi. Not great.
I then saw someone selling an 1990 Evinrude 3hp model: e3bresr. I did a compression test on it and it was 120psi on each cylinder. It's not running but it's been sat for a decade so suspect a carb rebuild is needed.
As mentioned...
Enough to stop my little boat getting up on plane? I tried all the trim settings and nothing helped. When I put my friends standard drive on and have it throttle the front end shot up in the air.
I doubt that the 90s 4hp johnson is significantly more powerful that the 70s 4hp johnson. They are both 2 strokes and about the same weight. Certainly not such a significant power difference.
I think the consensus is that a 4hp johnson should be faster than 5kts in such a small light boat...
I just borrowed a 90s johnson 4hp standard drive from a guy in the marina and measured 12kts. Able to get the dinghy up on plane and significantly faster than mine.
So now the question is, is it faster because of the standard vs weedless drive, or is there a problem with my motor. If it's a...
Hi, I have a 1972 4hp johnson with the weedless drive.
I've put it on an 8foot inflatableand I'm only getting 5kts. The boat only weights 25kgs and I'm of average build.
Is that to be expected? I think my main question is if I'm able to find a standard rather than weedless drive will it make...
