Hey everyone. Have a quick question. Are the 1986 and 1990 johnson 15hp the same. If not what are the differences. And could I swap one of the blocks over to the other. This is all needed before I buy a 86 to be a parts motor for my 1990.
Cheers, anything is appreciated.
I have a Suzuki dt6 that wont idle. It will start only with choke, never without. Only stays alive when 3/4 throttle. Have taken off carb. Not really sure what to expect. Is clean, doesn't seem to have parts missing or perished. Am wondering if it is a fuel pump thing or am I missing something.
Great news. Engine is running good. Idles well. Used the mercury powertune. Is now not smoking as much. After doing the powertune for a good 15 minutes I stalled it as directed. The water in the bucket was very oily and mucky. Is this normal. None of the gear fluid screws are loose. When it was...
Ok. I had a look at the fuel smelt a bit varnishey. Mixed new fuel at 50:1 and ran it. Still smoked. Then ran at 100:1 smoked less and was quieter. But still smoked a lot. Will run at 50:1 in future. Think it just needs a good run. Going to the beach over Christmas as I am in New Zealand and it...
Yesterday I went to a marine mechanic. He had an old Johnson carb with the same tube. Got it off him and installed. Also used a plastic binder to seal the crack. Started it this morning. Idles superbly. But there is a alot of smoke. The motor was sitting for 2 years. Not sure of age of fuel...
Opened the carb. Above the bowl was this tube. The big part was detached. The rest was still attached to the hose part but crumbled in my hand.
Will try
Not sure when it was last run. Was sitting for a while before I bought it. I'm having the same issue with a Suzuki. I read in another article to stick a copper wire up the float needle to unblock it. Is this true?
Hi recently bought a 2-stroke 6hp evinrude outboard from 1985-1990. Not sure of the year exactly, has a black cover. Not sure if it matters. Anyway. The motor starts well with the primer, but when you take it off it revs high, then slowly revs lower until it dies. Have had the same problems and...
