After being properly winterised, my 96 Bayliner Capri (Mercruiser 4.3 V6 IO) i now reluctant to start. She has a new battery, but I only get a tick when turning the key which doesnt sound like its coming from the starter motor. It sounds more like its coming from the carb area. All other...
My 96 Bayliner Capri 1850 40th anniversary came with the bimini cover stored on top of the engine below the lift up panel. Is this normal? I'm a little reluctant to run the boat with the cover so close to teh engine for heat and fire purposes?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
I'm curious as to whether my Mercruiser 4.3 (1996) has an electronic choke, and if so is there any way I can check if its working properly. The choke sometimes kicks in on cold start up with the engine idling at around 1200rpm. Other times the engine starts hard and idles at its normal 600-700...
My '96' Mercruiser 4.3 V6 sometimes starts with the choke in with obviously higher rpm, then sometimes without. If it starts with the choke in, then I cut it and re start it, often it will start with the choke out. Can anybody help?
On cold starting my engine doesnt seem to start with a choke idle. It starts no problem first time but ticks over at normal 'warm' rpm? Could the choke be sticking. It did start once at a higher idle.
Is there anything I can do to check the choke is working?
On a Mercruiser 4.3 V6 1996 I have just changed the distributer rotor arm, plugs, coil and fuel seperating filter after a backfire problem.
On initial turnover the boat wouldnt start. After repeated turnover it finally fired up. Is this normal? Would it take a while for the fuel to filter...
The steering on my 96 Bayliner 1850 has about 1/8 play in it before it engages in turning the outdrive. The slack seems to be be at the wheel / rear assembly rather than the hydrolic mechansim.
Can anybody shed any light on how to fix this?

I am just about to remove old fuel from my 96 Mercruiser 4.3. I'm concenred there will still be varnish residue left in the tank. Whats the best / easiest way to clean out the inside of the tank?
Could such residue find its way back into my carbs after replacing the fuel seperating filter...
Now the sun is finally out in the UK, when I remove my cover and inspect the engine she's covered in condensation. Other than keeping the cover off are there any tricks of the trade or products that I can use to absorb the moisture?

I have just purchased a 96 Bayliner with a 4.3 LX V6 Mercruiser. The boat had half a tank of fuel in which I topped up with another half tank of fresh fuel. After 40 minutes running we developed a bad misfire. On advice to check the fuel I have taken a sample which unfortunately smells...
