So I recently got a good deal on a 2008 Mercury 115hp optimax ($1900). I am upgrading from a 2003 tracker 40hp. How different are the controls and harnesses? Ive swapped car motors and I/O motors but never an outboard. Any advice is appreciated.
I have a 2003 merc 40 on my 24' slug of a pontoon. Looking to upgrade also curious if any of you know what controls are compatible or atleast and easy swap.
My options:
2002 Merc 90hp 4 stroke ($1500 o.bo)
2008 Merc 115 optimax ($2000)

As above I have a 2003 Tracker/Mercury 40 Hp 2 Stroke 2Cyl single carb. It is mounted on a 2003 24' pontoon usually with 3 kids 2 adults on board
The boat starts fine cold, Choke-key-vroom...
Always idles fine....
Once under power I can get the boat up to 4500-4900...
