    2003 150 Evinrude

Finally got the boat rigged and took it out today. All I can say is WOW! It ran great, started at the touch of the key, idled smooth, throttled up just fine, plenty of power, more than the 150 Ocean Pro that it replaced. Only concern was that it idled at 800 RPM's. I thought it would be a bit...

    Which materials to use

I've removed the deck from my Hydra Sport cabin boat and removed all the rotten wood from the gunnels and cabin walls. I want to use 1/2" nidacore to replace all the rotten wood. What type of cloth/matt should I use to do this repair. I plan to use epoxy resin. I have 10 yds. of 1708, can I use...

Does anyone know of a clear 2 part paint like Perfection or Algrip. It's either roll and tip a clear paint or spraying clearcoat on my hull.

    2003 Ficht VRO

Getting ready to mount a 2003 150 Evinrude. I noticed that the oil tank has 2 lines coming out of it. All the VRO's I have hooked up only have one. Why the difference. Bert

    Constant warning alarm HELP!

I have a 1999 150 Ocean Pro. The warning alarm comes on as soon as I turn the key and stays on. I have disconnected the vacum switch, both heat sensors and the VRO warning wires in an attempt to find which is faulty. I have searched this forum and found numerous post and usually disconnecting...

    Removing cap and liner?

I have a 1985 walkaround cabin that needs the floor replaced. Can I remove the cap and then remove the liner, flip the liner over, remove all rotten wood, glass in the replacement floor from the bottom and reinstall the liner? Am I correct in saying that is how the boat was originally built? I...

    Converting to a Pilot House

I have a walkaround cabin that I would like to convert to a 3 sided pilot house, leaving the back open. This would be very similar to a 2120 Parker sport cabin. What would be the best material to use, something like nida core or plywood and glass it? It will be built on top of the existing cabin...

    Fast Idle

My 1999 150 Johnson won't drop down to slow idle when it warms up. It has been working fine, when it reaches the correct temperature, the RPM's drop to the correct idle speed. Started the boat today and the RPM's would not drop once it warmed up. Need suggestions on what to do.

    Overheating Help

My 1999 150 Johnson is overheating on one side. I have put a new waterpump kit in. I removed the head on the side that is overheating and everything seems fine. I took an infared scanner and checked both sides of the motor. One bank of cylinders idles at 160 degrees and the other at 180. It...

    Power pack or coil?

I have a 1999 150 Johnson that is running on 5 cylinders. I've swaped coils and wires, plugs and nothing changes. Would a power pack be going bad on just 1 cylinder.

    Stiff Throttle

The throttle on my 1999 150 Johnson is very stiff. I disconnected the throttle cable and moved it by hand, it is very hard to advance. The cables and binnacle control move very easily when disconnected. It appears that the stiffness is in the linkage on the motor, not in the cables as I had...

    Starting Help 1999 150

I just put a 1999 150 Johnson on my boat. I hooked up all the wiring harness and cables. The motor cranks and the system check gauges go thru their checks. The problem is that the motor won't fire. There is no kill switch so that is not the problem. I want to check spark to the plugs, but I...

    Systems Check Help

I'm putting a 1999 150 on an older boat. I'm using a systems check wiring harness. I'm going with a new tach that has the 4 warning lights, however I want to continue to use the other old gauges on the boat. I'm worried about hooking up the warning horn. I know I will have to remove the system...

    Pulling a piston

Can I pull a piston out of a 1995 175 Evinrude without pulling the powerhead. It looks like I can remove the back of the crankcase, but I'm not sure. I have a manual ordered, but I'd like to see how much damage I have.
