where the fuel line plugs in to my 1986 johnson 40, there is another nipple that feeds into a black unit mounted next to the carburetors, that unit feeds into the carburetors. I'm told that unit is an oil injector. is that true and should i have an oil reservoir feeding that nipple.

i can start my 1972 40hp. johnson but it won't stay running. its 's new to me and has not run for a while, about a month. i can start it with the choke lever up and it will run like that but as soon as i put the lever down it cuts out . i don't have a manual so i'm not sure of what i'm doing...
