My new to me searay has a 4.3 mercruiser with alpha 1 stern drive ..
Runs lovely , starts lovely when Warm ..But cold starting is a joke ..
Guy told me push on to throttle only , place lever a quarter position forward and turn key and she will fire up .. Yea right...

I had the boat running for a fair blast , the boat is new to me by the way and my first solo run ..
On start up and idle it sits straight and cool at 140 ish , took her out and gave her a good run on the plane and the temperature goes up to 210 ish , when i slow down back to idle she...

Hi have done a deal on my new to me boat .. as part of the deal i have insisted the Mercruiser 4.3 Alpha 1 engine ,has a FULL Service .
They seem to think this is expensive and wasnt happy but i insisted so what is involved in a full service ?

Do you just release anchor and unwind 5 times water depth , and then use the power winch to pull all the line back and the boat back and sit back and...

I am in the process of buying a SeaRay200 cuddy has genuine Mercruiser 4.3 engine with apparent genuine 158 hours on the clock ..
Now the Boat is 1990 so its 20 years old , So in 20 years that...
Considering getting a bigger boat a cuddy or cabin around 21 foot with a 4.3 or 5 Litre mercruiser engine.
What kind of fuel consumption could i expect , anyone have any ideas what sort of Gallons per hour i could expect ?

Today while in the Merc and SeaRay dealers over here getting some mercclean for the fuel, i had a nose around at some of there second hand boats they had in the yard .
Whilst most of them was 50,000 and stuff :eek: 1 nice little blue and white

Just a small thing i have the drive in Neutral on the Mercury 80 outboard , with Mufflers on start the engine and it always makes the prop spin ?
Now surely in Neutral it should sit still . And when i spin it by hand prior to starting its all nice and spins albeit a little tight but...

I have a centre window missing on my speedboat , it looks like there was one once as you can see the old rivet marks etc.. on the left hand edge.
Would like to get a replacement of the swing and shut type , any ideas where to get one ?
Or even any ideas from people who had the same...
