Ok...so my brother has a 115 suzuki 4stroke that he has had since new. This offseason he had to replace a frozen steering cable. Being the bull in the china shop that he is, he pulled the old cable out and did not realize the tech who installed the motor back in 02 had taped the wire harness...
I was given an 1981 70HP Johnson that had an exhaust manifold leak and had been "put up" three years ago. I fixed the exhaust (broken bolts) and ran a compression test and it shows at almost nothing...like 15lbs is all.

I just got a 1981 Johnson 70 HP that runs, but dies under power due to an exhaust leak. I had this diagnosed by my local mechanic but he was leaving town for 3 weeks of AK fishing...so I had to do the work. :eek:
The problem is when removing the cover, several of the bolts broke off. :(...
This motor is on back of a 15' 1984 Tiderunner Rnbt that I bought last week. Previous owner had let set for 4-yrs after it broke down on him. I opened it up and found the number one piston has a hole in it. Started the tear down and ran into a couple of minor (lol) issues.
