brother has a 20hp Merc that has been a PITA to use. Always hard start and multiple issues. I found a 1983 J15ecrm elec start evinrude and I have always been a Jonny/rude guy. He is worried that it will be a dog on the 14' blufin fisherman we have. Will we notice a big difference?
I have been sitting on an old Evinrude 35hp for quite a long time. What should I do. It turns freely and I think I could get it going but would I be better off letting it go to someone who will better appreciate it. Are these motors hard to work on. Are they RARE? i havn't seen many like mine...
When I leave my motor at idle the rpms will sometimes increas on their own. Its on the boat and in neutral and will still over rev. When I put it in drive and let it idle we have no issues. Just a little confused.
I have a 1968 9288d 9.5hp Motor and the top spark plug thread is stripped. I was looking on the net for a possible head replacement and I have found them for $ 3.19. Can this be possible. the gasket is 15$, can the cylinder head be that cheap. It is labeled properly.
I have a 1973 50hp evinrude Mech shift...I saw this posting. How will i know if it will work. Could i just take measurements? will there be any numbers?. or for 100 should I take the chance. and at worst rebuild it once i Know what it is a re-sell it...

saw this last night and I am itching to get a look. it says it has as ford 360....? i thought these came with OMC i/o....what dose the Starmada think. I live 3 min away from the erie canal in NY, and it would be cool to cruise up and down on this thing...
I just got a 1968 9.5 sportwin, Model 9822D and I need a fuel pump, Carb kit, and I want to replace the Water Pump or repair it. I have had trouble finding these parts. I think i saw on here before that other year Fuel pumps will fit.

should i worry about the fact that it "runs hot" sometimes.....does that mean possible bigger issues. like warping, or scoring on the cylinder walls.....Will the fiberglass hull start to break down being 25 years old?

Picked up a nice little 9288D 1968 sportwin 9.5 and i went to drain the LU and the oil looks like syrup. It is really dark and oozes out. Can i just refill or should i try to clean it out. I'm hoping not to do a rebuild.
