I pulled the prop and there is no string wrapped around the shaft.
I tried taking the exhaust hoses and clamps off, but there was not enough of wiggle space to remove them. I didn't have an exhaust gasket to remove the exhaust elbow. I tried feeling for the flapper pin (Number 41 on diagram)...
I bought the boat later in 2010 or so. I can't verify if the flappers have been changed. Is there a way for me to check or is that something a service tech needs to do?

My Hot water heater started leaking. We don't use it, so instead of replacing it, Can I just run the input hose to the water heater directly back to the engine? Will that cause any issues? Thanks for looking into this.
The low pressure pump is right by the fuel/water separator in the front of the motor. The high pressure pump is by the back of the motor, above the VST.
