40 hp Johnson running very rough

    Hey Gang

This motor is a single carb unit, 2 cylinder. It is a 1968 model. Was running something terrible. To check which cylinder, either, both, neither was to blame, we took one plug wire loose and restarted. It ran perfectly. Very smooth, maintained a low idle speed. Any ideas on...

    Horsepower vs. Torque

    Hey There

It would seem torque is more important in car motors. Here is what I mean. In 1971, Pontiac put out a 455 with 390 hp and 510 ft/lbs of torque at their appropriate rpm. At the same time Chevy put out a 454 with 450/460 hp and 490 ft/lbs of torque at their appropriate rpm. I...

St Louis, MO area still looking for good running outboard

    Hey Gang

The subject line about tells it all. Sort of. :D
Guess I'd want a 25-75 hp motor, pre-85. OK, I'll fess up. I'm only looking for pre-85 just because of the price factor. If you have a later model on the cheap, I'll consider it.

thanks
Billy Bob

    Chevy 2.8 V6 question

    Hey There

I read the other post about this motor. Intriguing. Don't really want a 350hp motor. Nor do I want to spend $12 grand. If I get one of these motors for a boat that previously had an outboard, what parts are needed? Where can you get them? How much?

thanks<br...

'68 Johnson 40 horse part question

    Hi All

Motor is RKL 30 O. It is in need of a shift switch. It is the electramatic. Exhaust does not go out the prop. My Dad wants the proper switch for this. I would be happy with a 2 circuit switch, which I already bought.

Anyway, since Dad wants the original part, where...

    Hey All

Since this is not exactly a motor question, in fact not at all, I hope you'll forgive me. Is there a way I can easily check for replies to my posts? I have been hunting for them so far, but don't want to miss anything.

thanks
Billy Bob

    bad earth connection

    Hi All

Saw another post that someone suggest a "bad earth connection" Can someone 'splain it to me? I do realize that electrically speaking this is ground, hence a bad ground connection. Or at least I think I realize that.
:)

Ground and earth seem the same when a...
