I took apart both of my trim cylinders, cleaned thoroughly, and replaced all of the seals with a rebuild kit. All of the parts looked to be in good shape, maybe a little pitting on one of the ram caps. When I put it all back together and tested it I am still getting a leak at the port side...
Thank you for the responses folks, much appreciated. We left the lake yesterday, mechanic still had not come out. Will try to post the results if I get some feedback from the repair.
Lesson learned for future years - Bring a few basic testing tools (test light, multi-meter, etc.) with me to the...
2004 Mercury Mercruiser 4.3 Thunderbolt V Ignition (model: MCM 4.3 Litre)
We are at the lake for the week, took the boat out yesterday, 5 or 6th trip this season all previous with no issues. On the trip yesterday it sputtered and died, could not restart, nice neighbor towed us back to dock...
2004 Rinker Fiesta Vee 250, Mercruiser 350 MAG : Currently on a two week cruise of the Hudson River and Lake Champlain. Filled the gas tank a few times the first few days without issue, but the last two fills there has been an issue. It appears that the “vent line” is becoming blocked and...
I started off the season without any issues, but shortly after launching my trim pump would not operate (just a clicking sound). I cleaned all of the electrical connections around the trim pump and it would come and go after that (sometimes it works, other times nothing, just a click). All other...
Been having intermittent power issues with my trim pump recently. Most likely being caused by excessive corrosion in one (or both) of the relay receptacles, possibly other places in the harness. Looks like the replacement part number for the entire harness is 3857345.
Any advice or tips on...
We have a 1999 FourWinns 190 Horizon, 4.3GL PWTR VP engine, SX-M outdrive. Last year the trim pump was not working, I replaced both relays and it worked without any additional issues all season.
This year I had no issues raising and lowering the drive while it was on the trailer, but it stopped...
Was almost done getting the boat ready to put in the water this season, went to grease the gimbal bearing on the starboard side of the drive, usually hook up a grease gun and give it 10-15 pumps. This year noticed that the zerk fitting is damaged (see photo). It looks like it was severed off...
Volvo Penta 4.3GL PWTR, 1999, 190 HP
Looking for any advice on what to try next. We replaced multiple components of the cooling system recently, but the engine is still overheating slightly. Don?t have a digital thermostat, but if the temperature gauge on the dash is broken into 1/8?s and...
1999 VP 4.3 GL 190HP
Last week I removed the thermostat housing and replaced the thermostat. As I was re-installing the thermostat housing I noticed that the hole for the starboard side bolt had become stripped (and possibly corroded), see yellow arrow on the attached diagram. A previous...
We have a 1999 FourWinns 190 Horizon, 4.3GL PWTR VP engine. We had several repairs done to the engine in the past two years. The most extensive repair was when the engine was removed, rebuilt, and re-installed due to a head gasket failure two seasons ago. The engine performed ok for a few months...
My starter/electrical issue turned out to be hydrolock according to the mechanic. He replaced both manifolds and sea-tested. I have it back at my dock and it has had a few ?difficult? times starting. Sometimes it will turn over easily, other times it seems like the starter is having a hard time...
Volvo Penta 1999 4.3GL PWTR
We replaced the starter a few weeks ago and the boat was starting great except for this unresolved issue (see link below). I went out last night and it appeared the battery was dead due to the bilge pump running from recent storms so I hooked it up to a...
