My outdrive has about a 1/4 inch to 1/2 of play side to side without the steering arm in the transom moving. Is this ok or normal, or should there really be no play. If it's normal I will probably let it ride but if it's considered bad then I will need to do something. thanks, jaybird

I am running a 14by19 cast prop with a 1978 Imperial 16ft Tri-hull and my speedo only reads 27mph at 4600 RPMs. My fishfinder reads even slower at 24-25 mph. This boat is a 2.5L 120hp. Shouldn't I be getting at least something like 35mph at that RPM?? It doesn't seem right, most people I hear...
what should the compression be in a 1978 2.5L 120hp. My compression reads between 120-125 for all four cylinders. Is this kinda low, what would a new one read? I know my variance is good between cylinders but will I be down on power with compression only in the 120's??
My steering is so loose that I can easily move the outdrive by hand and it will spin my steering wheel. Is this normal? If not, why would it be this loose? Never delt with steering before but I would think it should have some tension on it.
