When i'm on plane and throttle down slighty to where the boat is halfway out of plane I thottle back up to get back on plane and have no acceleration. The RPM's shoot up as it should but no power?? I have to completely come out of plane and restart and works fine then. It's almost like it's not...
There are 3 screws in the lower unit. I filled it up with oil until it came out of the middle screw (phillips head screw). What is the top screw for? I've read forums that said the middle screw is a "shifting fork screw" and should not be removed. We'll.....it WAS remove and filled to that...

Could i replace the water deflectors in my water jackets from rubber tubing from a hardware store? Any special tubing/rubber for the application?

Do i need to pull the head cover (the plate that the spark plugs crew into) to take off the head itself? I need to replace a head gasket, water deflectors and clean the water jackets. I'm trying to avoid buying the head cover gasket! I have a Clymers manual but it's not clear! Please help....
