when i attach the positive cable to the battery it sparks a little. i have a separate cable feeding the acc. panel. what could be causing a draw?

bought a new PP and installed it. discovered that it only has 3 silver sleeves in the 5 prong connector and the one that it connects to has all 5 pins. talked to Sierra tech yesterday and he said it should have all 5 sleeves. called company i bought it from and...

just replaced stator, powerpack and reg/rect last friday. she started up right away and ran like a charm. 14.1 volts going to new battery. charging as expected even with lights and bilge on.
went back on monday and no spark at all. lanyard in place.
