My engine, Yamaha F80 year 2002, carburetor, total 167 hours, has been running like a dream...before.
The problem I have at the moment is that the motor stopped to run suddenly after about 5 minutes in idle, first run of the day, showing smoke close to the electric distribution box in the front...
Anyone can give a quick answer on that?
I will repower my Fjodling 17 (Jonson 40 2 stroke 1990 to Yamaha F80 2001) but it is Sunday and the F80 is in a workshop, I cannot check the fixing bracket and did not find any info on the Forum or web.
IF not the same fixing bolt pattern, I would use...
Anyone here can say if I need to remove the INTAKE MAINFOLD and VRO PUMP in order to disconnect the rod lever/rod keeper from SHIF ROD or if there is a trick to do that? (Evinrude 70HP, 2 stroke, 1986)
I am trying to service my Evinrude 70HP , 2 stroke, 1986.

I have a Yamaha 70HP 2 stroke, year 1990 (Model/Serial 70BETO -6H3 L 47519 - D)
In the lower unit end, the upper casing (P/N 6H3-45111-10-EK) has 2 out of 5 threaded holes stripped, so that the lower unit is properly fixed to the upper casing only by 3 bolts (1 in the center and 2 in the lft...
Re: How can I get rid of the water in the hull?
I have only had time to open one section beneath the rear seat. The general state is not so bad as I imagined, nothing is root or dumped, there are not gallons of water. But there is serious humidity ...some details as I inspected the boat...

I have drilled the 1/4" in the transom, about the deck level.
The transom shavings look gold clear at that height.
The transom also visually looks rock solid, all corners intact, inside and outside.

But bad, bad, looking is the 5/16...
Re: How can I get rid of the water in the hull?
Hey YD, no words to express the feeling when reading you comments!
You touched the point where I stand right know: there has not been any determination other than I have drilled an 1/4" hole and can see it is humid down there.
I have never cut...
The volume between the hull and dack in my norwgian "Skibsplast TC 17" should be sealed. But I found a small crack on the deck, close to the stern. Water obviously found its way through that hole.
I have drilled an small inspection hole and realized she has water in the hull.

I am about to replace the tilt/trim motor from a recently acquired Yamaha 85ATL 1993 and may need a quick help as the Service Manual did not reach my house yet. (Only have the Suzy and Johnson in my humble library, so far). I bought the 85ATL together with a new trim motor, so that a...
I have a 2005 Selva(Yamaha) 60 HP 4 strokes (S/N 6C5 L 1007223) with damaged crankshaft. While my friend Engstr?m in V?ster?s - Sweden - reworks the crankshaft, I was tasked to find the new plane bearings to fit it. The plane bearings need to be 0.25mm undersized and turned out to be my big...
I just got a boat powerded with 1989 Evinrude 70HP VRO, 3 cylinders.
Checked compression (OK), replaced sparkplugs and impeller (the pump works with great presure) but the temperature seems quite high (the water comes out warm and when I touch the cylinders, I can only hold for about 7 seconds...
I just bought a new boat, Ryds 495GT, powered with a 2 strokes Johnson 60 HP 1988 (oil injection), 3 Cylinders.
Now I have a chance to repower it with a 2 strokes Yamaha 75HP 1992 (oil pre-mix, NOT autolube).
As far as I could find in the web, both are in the same weight range, aprox 250 lb.
I...
