A fellow at a marina recommended painting my trailer with bedliner material. He claimed some of the new trailers come this way. As anybody seen or tried this? Do I need to prime first?

Hello, I finally removed my rotten transom only to discover the aluminum is deeply pitted in numerous spots. I was thinking of putting a new skin over the back by sealing and riveting or welding. Any suggestions?
