    Converting evinrude 10524 1975 9.9 short shaft to long shaft

    I have a 1975 evinrude 10524 9.9 hp short shaft and am looking at converting it to a long shaft. I know this can be done. My question is I can get a older conversation kit never used for a 1979/80 model for $100. Will this work on the 1975????

    Shifting

    1978 70 HP had water pump replaced now when shifting forward is reverse and reverse is forward. Was the shift linkage incorrectly reassembled?

    Oil smoke out of 1972 ford 302 valve cover breather

    This just started last time out there seems to be oil burn smoke coming out of the valve cover breather after engine runs a little while.

    Too much steering wheel play

    I have a 1973 23 ft t craft with mores mechanical steering. The problem is that I can turn the steering wheel completely around right or left before the outdrive will respond. Can the steering be tightened or are there gears inside that are stripped. rich

    boat was running noise will not go into gear

    I was returning to marina engine made noise grind will not go into gear:mad::confused:

    test a coil

    I am having problems with my evinrude 70 hp 70473 stalling putting it into forward in the water it will go into forward with the muffs without a problem. I tested the spark and am getting none in the top cylinder. I pulled the coil is there a way to test it without spending the cash for a new one.
