I have a Yamaha F90 with a 703 controller. I recently bought a trim gauge from the christmas store (Bass Pro shop) and am having some trouble getting it hooked up. The instructions were very bad and I'm no tech when it comes to wiring. There are three wires coming from the control...
Some observations and a few questions.... In the middle of a lower unit rebuild for my F90 (2005 model), and currently waiting on gears from Yamaha. Had to bore out the section just in front of were the O-ring lies about 3/8" deep just overlapping the pinion hole, due to the gear fragments...
I have a yamaha 90 hp 4 stroke. The lower unit went out (still don't know the cause but broken teeth on the forward gear was result.) had oil in it, no water, but upon disassembly it seemed to me that the backlash was way to tight. I will correct that later. Upon installation of a new drive...
My yamaha manual suggest Loctite 572 for lower unit seals. Given up on finding it locally. Will Permatex ATV high temp sealant around the seal and surface do as well?

As this is my first boat I would love some advice. Noticed after a few trips on the lake the tach starting to run intermittently and soon thereafter the battery went dead. Searched these excellent threads, read my manuel and concluded bad rectifier. I checked for voltage from the battery leads...
