I havent used the motor in about a year. I cleaned the carb out and it wasnt gummed up. But now it starts and will rev up really high and then just go back down and shut off. I can keep it running if i keep the choke almost all the way on. Any idea whats going on with this thing?
Im new to working on outboards, I just bought a mariner 4M and it runs great but rev's up when i put it in neutral. I was told to adjust the carb (i have worked on lots of small motors before just not outboards). There is a black plug about half way down on the housing towards the lower unit...
I got this motor a week ago. I cleaned the carb and replaced the impeller. It will run for about three seconds every time i pull it. Which screw is the idle screw on the carb and what is the other one for? HOw many times should i back both of them out just so it will run, then ill mess with them...
So i have this motor and it hasnt been started in a while. I cleaned out the carb and fuel lines. Any other ideas on why it wont start? I cleaned up the spark plug also. Any good shops around the dallas area that wont rip me off if i take it in to get worked on?
Hey, i just got this motor and dont know anything about it. Does it take a mixture of gas and oil or straight gas. What kind of oil does it take for the motor? Thanks
Sorry this may be a dumb question but i just replaced the impeller on my newly aquired merc 3.5. I cant get the lower unit back on. Is there some special trick to getting it to match up? Any help would be great
