Figure I will keep it off for a trip or two at least (let anything else smaller drop out but looks ground pretty much to dust) but figured there probably is a reason to have it on? If I can skip putting it back that would be nice but best of both worlds probably would be to spend the 5 minutes...
Welp, 3 of 4 bolts were pretty easy. Still able with small arms and hands to get 4th bolt without removing engine. Sure enough, a few small pieces of previous starter were on the bottom of the boat... WIN!!! Started it up, teeth look fine on flywheel and sounds much quieter. Thank you so...
That's what I initially thought but the sound definitely isnt near the starter and doesnt seem to be coming from around the flywheel housing... It definitely is odd.

Ok, so from a little research on here.... disconnecting the battery cable while the boat/engine runs is a bad thing.... at least SOME of the time.... and I happen to be one of those cases.... grrrrrr.... why mechanics can't be similar with all engines is silly to me! :-(
Soooooo, thought had...
1986 Cheetah -stalls from time to time when going from idle (not neutral although in idle for maybe 1 or 2 seconds) to full throttle (ie. when starting a skiier). Only happens maybe 1 out of 10 or 20 times.... usually just before it stalls I bring it back to neutral and try again and it may do...
