Having a watertight seal on the exhaust bellow is not critical. As long as you have enough lip to get the clamp to tighten on you should be good. Adhesive isn't detrimental until you go to replace that bellows with the next one, it can really gum up the mounting surfaces for the next time.
That is not a critical component if you cannot find new. I just usually extend the cable and apply a liberal amount of drive grease to the extended cable.
Also make sure that water is exiting the fuel pump. If the fuel pumps water jackets are clogged there will be no water passing through the pump to cool it.
I think some of you are misreading the question. This is not a winterization question but a question of leaving a block with or without salt away in the block while in storage. Since I do not boat in salt and am not familiar with salt away, I will defer to those that do.
I don't think you can use the fuel injection system from the GXI on the stroker as the ECM is not compatible with the new engine. You may have to find a carb to put on it and I dont know if a 4 bbl carb will fit the GXI manifold. A few years back I considered the same process but ended up going...
I purchased directly from them. I called and talked with them and they advised me which adaptor was needed for my engine, very helpful. I believe it`s called the Techmate.
I second the "Stumpy stand". I had built and used a homemade for several years but decided to buy the Stumpy stand . I really appreciate the height adjustability that the Stumpy stand provides.
In a pinch you could just replace the bad seal refill with oil and try to get another season out of it. I would check the drive oil periodically through the season to see if the water intrusion persists. If so, then you know you will have to replace or rebuild the entire unit. A pressure and...
I would not try to test the bellows hold by having it filled with water. You will damage the U joint bearings and cause corrosion. If anything put the bellows on it like you plan and take it to the boat ramp when it is not busy and lower the back end into the water and start the motor. Cycle the...
I hate to burst your bubble but I would not put that boat in the water with that current set up. You run the risk of allowing water to get in the bellow and damaging your U joints, new bearings and water in the boat. Thats a pretty good chunk of metal missing. You will need another transom shield.
GI is the throttle body injection system.
I would be nice to know how many engine hours to have as a guide, but generally that engine and that drive are robust and reliable, always depending on how well it`s been cared for over the years.
