    '98 Yamaha 115 tilt/trim locked up?

Fixed it! Thanks for all your help guys! Obviously, I COULD do it without you. I think I need to find more of an outboard repair forum. This just isn't for me. But I'll leave knowing I've contributed more than I've received, so I feel pretty good about that. So long!! Before I go, I'll...

    '98 Yamaha 115 tilt/trim locked up?

A couple of weeks ago, I cranked up the motor and was getting it ready for an outing. Went to tilt the motor up and nothing. No sound, no movement. Checked everything out and it's a bad pump. Getting power, but doing nothing. I turned the screw to release the tilt/trim and still could not...

I need help, boat runs rough and stalls. I pumped new gas and lots more.. I need help

I've had motors that were 50-60 years old and have never replaced a carburetor on any of them. I don't understand the need to replace a carb.

What you need to be correcting is the point where the float turns fuel flow off. The drop of the float is unimportant. It will sit on the bottom of the bowl. With the carb off, slip a piece of clean fuel line on the nipple where gas goes in and blow on it. Lift the float with your hand and...

How to fill a totally empty tilt/trim system 1998 Yamaha 115

Thanks, but the motor is all the way down. No fluid in the system. All 3 pistons are all the way down. All I can fill is the upper overflow tank. Will that eventually make it to the pump somehow? I feel like I am causing problems by running the pump dry.

How to fill a totally empty tilt/trim system 1998 Yamaha 115

Bolts broke when I attempted to replace my tilt/trim motor, so I removed the entire assembly. Now that it's all put back together, I've put everything back together. While the assembly was off and I was repairing broken bolts and getting it all fixed, all of the fluid leaked out all over the...

    Johnson 1986 110 won’t pass 2000 rpm’s

Did you remove and clean out the main jets in the bowl of the carbs? Sounds like a fuel delivery problem to me.

What's the best prop size? - 22 ft tahoe 228 Merc Alpha One Gen II 220 HP

If you can supply RPM's and MPH at full speed, we can tell you if you're under/over propped. Basically you want to operate within the manufacturers recommended RPM range without exceeding it. That keeps the motor "happy". I run an aluminum prop most of the time because rocks aren't a hazzard...

Broke a bolt on my tilt/trim overflow tank

I have a 1999 Yamaha 115 2 stroke. While taking the tilt/trim assambly off to replace the pump because I couldn't get to all the bolts. In order to take that off I had to remove the overflow tank and one of the 3 bolts broke off flush. I've nver had much suces with easyouts so I'm thinking 2...

2000 70 hp Low rpm under load

I'd seriously consider an inline filter while replacing hoses. A good fuel/water separator can be found pretty cheap.

Replacing starter bendix on 1990 evenrude 25 HP

WD40 or something similar should clean that up. I've had to use it on my motors over the years. I can't count the number of times a little tap on a starter has brought it back to life. On boats and cars/trucks! I had an old 1968 Chevy C-10 pickup that I only used to pull an old boat, and I...

    1991 DT100 Crankcase Puncture

;If you ran it a long time while it was starving for gas, that could have caused the problem. But if it has oil injection, that cylinder should have gotten oil even if it wasn't getting fuel. If a carb is clogged and there's no oil injection, the cylinder won't get fuel/oil mixture, so it runs...

    1947 Johnson HD 25

Those old motors just require a screwdriver and a pair of pliers to repair!! What specifically are you trying to do? There's old-timers here that I'm sure can answer specific questions. I've often found repair manuals for older motors in the reference section of my local public library...

Fuel Gauge making full, even with no power.

The gauge is actually an ohm meter. Yeah, you fried it. Best way to test the sending unit is with an ohm meter. Don't buy a cheap gauge off of Amazon. The really cheap ones work backwards!! My son has one installed on his boat. Also, the sending uinit should have the ohm range stamped on...
