    I just picked up a nice "Brown Stripe" Merc 3 cylinder from storm ravaged south Florida. Motor wasn't hurt other than the hinges on the back of the cowl. I can't find a serial number tag. Is there another way to determine the year of manufacture?

    I just upgraded from a 1985 50 hp Johnson to 1998<br />Evinrude 50 SPL. Some say their alternator poles are the same (5). The Faria site says the 1996- on have (6) poles.     New Suzuki 140hp Foursrtoke Oil???

    I'm helping a friend install a new Suzuki 140hp 4 stroke on his bay boat. The dealer says to run any kind of 10/40 oil. I suggested that he run Suzuki Oil. The dealer again says any 10/40 will do. Do any forum members have a reccomendation?
