I recently bought a boat with a 1955 Evinrude fastwin 15 hp, first time taking it out and I ended up with water in the lower unit oil. Some guys on here helped me find the seal kit for this lower. now I'm taking it apart to do my pressure test and the drain screw had no gasket. I did a pressure...
Bump
Anyone know if the 1955 evinrude 18hp is the same as the 15hp? I can seem to find seal kits for that one. Even tried to do a model number search in seirra catalog and found a few things like impeller and carb parts but no seals. really want a complete lower unit seal kit if possible.
I recently got a new used boat with a 1955 evinrude 15 hp fastwin 15014 is the model number but I am having troubles finding stuff for it. I would like to go ahead and replace the impeller and lower union oil. Where is a good place to find parts for older outboards? Even when I search for the...
thank you all for the reply and confirmation. I don't want to screw the boat up. jimmbo could I ask if you have the rest of that manual or a link to where you found it
So when I put lever in release and pull motor up it is supposed to stay?
Is that when I would put transom saver on? Hate to ask stupid questions but stupid mistakes ruined my last boat
Just got a new to me boat with a very nicely restored 1955 evinrude fastwin 15 hp. When towing it home it was bouncing around a lot and I didn't care for that at all. First thing I thought of was a transom saver which I plan to install. My question is about the trimming on this model. I am new...
I have found a boat that I really like and in my price range for a fishing boat for me and my brothers. It is a 1979 Duo aluminum v hull jon boat 14' x 56" wide. There is no capacities tag on the boat I am worried we may be over weight. I have seen newer jon boats anywhere from 450 lbs to 900...
So just kind of an update on the repairs I've done that some of you have talked me through lol. I replaced the top portion of my outdrive with a rebuilt mercruiser. First run Friday went great ran about an hour pulled it out checked gear lube and add a small amount. Ran again Friday night...
I have just replaced my alpha one gen 2 drive and getting ready for our trip tmrw I notice water coming from a few areas. First is the area where the shifter lever goes into the little boot when you install the drive by the speed sensor hook up.
Second location is a little weep hole on right...
I just want to say that my boat is now fixed and thanks to you guys I did all the work myself. (Outdrive replacement) That saved my family thousands and just in time to enjoy our first boat before fall.
Thank you guys very much for all your words of wisdom .
My new water pump kit has exact same wear plate and top gasket but the bottom gasket is just an outline of the wear plate and made of metal and the old one is like a paper material. This is the kit the dealer gave me for my serial number. Some reason I can't post a pic tonight. I appreciate any...
I am trying to confirm my outdrive gasket. My old outdrive shredded the drive gears due to a lack of oil. I know it is an alpha one gen 2. The gasket it calls for is in this picture with 3 holes on one side and 2 on other side (only counting top of gasket) . I also included a pic of my old drive...
I am installing new outdrive and I need to order all the seals and gaskets. I have a Clymer b742 mercruiser Stern drive shop manual that has exploded view of the drive but parts are labeled seal, seal, o ring. If anyone knows a link so I can identify parts and get the proper o rings and other...
