99 Four Winns -- need help removing old bilge pump

I have a 99 Four Winns 17ft F&S O/B. I had a leaky aerator hose which was unfortunately below the water line. I decided to pull her out of the water and replace the aerator, bilge pump, and related hoses. Trouble is, the bilge pump is underneath a big piece of plywood that the batteries rest...

Can I charge battery with automatic bilge pump still connected?

I have a Xantrex 20amp charger charging a group 24 cranking battery on one bank and two group 27's in parallel on a second bank. Until now my boat was stored out of the water, and I had a disconnect switch that isolated the batteries for charging. Now I keep my boat in the water and I need for...

    99 Four Winns Horizon 170 F&S leaking aerator hose/pump

My 99 Four Winns has been taking on water this season. I've isolated the leak to the aerator pump and the inlet hose attached to it. I tightened the hose clamp really tight and it seems like the leak stopped. At any given time there were a few inches of water in the bilge. Barely enough to...

    2000 Johnson 115 trouble starting

My woes continue. After coming out of storage my Johnson 115 (J115PLSSB) is very difficult to start. I pump up the primer bulb, hold the key in for 10 seconds, then turn it over. The first time, it catches for a few seconds then dies. The primer bulb is no longer firm so I pump it up again...

    Johnson 115 tachometer problem

I have a Johnson 115 outboard on my 99 Four Winns Horizon 170 F&S. The tachometer was okay when I put it in storage back in October. I brought it out this weeknd. I took it out on the lake and I noticed at low speed the tachometer was still reading zero. When I slowly give it some throttle...

2000 Johnson 115 still running hot at low speed

My Johnson 115 warms up to 155-160 at idle. Above 1500-2000 rpm the temp comes down below 120.

Last season it never went above 140.

So far I've replaced the water pump, thermostats, and t-stat seals. It's still getting hot at idle.

Any suggestions?

    2000 Johnson 115 running a bit warm

My Johnson 115 ran all last year around 140 degrees. When I started using it this year, I noticed the temp ran up to 160-165 degrees.

The temp runs highest when I'm lugging along at low speed. If I give it more throttle, the boat comes up on plane (around 3200 rpm) and the temp...

2000 Johnson 115 Shift Rod Woes

I just changed the water pump on my Johnson 115. I got the lower unit back on, but I'm having trouble getting the shift rod linkage re-engaged. I think the rod has rotated to where the hole no longer lines up.

Is there a trick to this? Should I pull the lower unit back off and...

2000 Johnson 115 Lower Unit Stuck

My Johnson 115 has been running a little warm, and I'm trying to change the water pump. I have removed the bolts indicated by my shop manual, and removed the cotter pin from the shift linkage, but the lower unit won't drop off.

I tried moving the shift lever into reverse like the...
