View of unloaded trailer with pickups

My setup for about 10 years. The van is perfect for camping but not so good for launching the boat. It's mirrors all the way. I got good once I figured it out, I did what I called the wiggle. If the boat is directly behind it's impossible to see from either mirror. So I did the wiggle, minor...

    1970 Evinrude Mate 1.5hp

It's actually running quite well. I just picked it up from a guy that "fixed" it. The carb was a mess leaking fuel, wrong lever on it, plugged idle circuit, link & sink was way out. You get the picture. I spent a couple bucks and redid the carb with a sierra kit, replaced the impeller. Actually...

    1970 Evinrude Mate 1.5hp

Model 1002R. I believe the compression at 90 psi is low. What would good or new motor compression be? Thanks,

    wheel bearing seals

Many seals are available in single or double lip. Cheaper bearing kits seem to often have single lip seals which may be ok for other trailer applications. A double lip seal will provide better protection in harsh environments. Best to spend a few bucks more and get double lip.

    DESPERATE situation

Not sure what hole but how about another, longer zip tie with a dab of hot melt glue or crazy glue. Folded over thin piece of wire might also work.

Self-inflating PFD inflated in storage. Common?

Only 2 ways to set it off, the bobbin got wet and dissolved or accidentally by the manual pull. No reason you can't remove the co2 cartridge for storage. Just be sure to inspect the bobbin before installing it again. Buy a spare replacement bobbin to keep on hand. I keep a couple in a vacuum...

Just thought I'd share a nice photo.

My older brother and I scanned from a 60 yr old b&w 35mm film, added touch of sepia, printed on canvas 18 x 24.

    Alarm capacitor 4.3L

The series timer your looking at in Post 6 requires a completed path to function. If you set the delay long enough to allow the oil switch to open then the timer contact will not close. It requires power draw to complete the circuit. So when an alarm actually happens the timer will start timing...

    Need Air Compressor Help

New motor matches the old for rpm? probably 3450, almost all small compressors are. Is it a twin cylinder , single stage or 2 cylinder , 2 stage? Almost sounds like the compressor is seizing. Time appox how long it takes to get from an empty tank to when the issue occurs. Then attach a blow gun...

    Lost bill of sale

I received my boat for free, it was in pieces with lots of missing parts. Because I registered a trailer for it, the government eventually contacted me regarding a possible boat purchase ( 2 years later ). They were looking for the tax. I created a document outlining exactly how I received the...

    CD-20R

I like the old motors, simple and easy to work on. I parted with 3 last year to by a brand new 4 stroke 9.9 Had a 76 evinrude 25hp, 76 evinrude 9.9 and my favorite a 61 evinrude 18hp. Did lots of work to all 3 of them. Miss the power and sound of the 18hp. So this 5.5 isn't a necessity, but...

    CD-20R

I decided to split the crankcase and have a look inside. Very clean no signs of rust on any parts. But it appears there is some play in one of the piston / wrist pin/ connecting rod assemblies. After rotating the head just past tdc I can push the piston slightly with a screw driver through the...

    CD-20R

Thanks for the response, flywheel is off and indeed both coils are cracked. I don't want to spend any money if there is internal damage so I guess the next step would be to split the case and have a look. I didn't purchase it so there is no investment yet.

    CD-20R

Recently picked up a 63 Johnson CD-20R. First time I saw it was in 1999, and it hasn't moved since then till the owner finally decided to part with it. It hasn't run for at least 23 years. Hung it on a stand for a few days then drained the lower unit, maybe 1/2 oz of clear water came out first...
