In the process of removing johnson 40hp 2-stroke off my gregor seahawk. Everything is ready to go...except for the steering cable. I can slide it out about 2/3rds of the way, then it just stops. Is there something i'm overlooking, or a trick I don't know about? All help greatly...

have gregor, 1994 seahawk g4, 16', with johnson 40 hp 2-stroke with 25" shaft that i am thinking about repowering with a yamaha 40hp 4- stroke with 20" shaft.
will the difference in weight, and difference in shaft length make any big differences...

have extra transducer - speedometer cables.do not know what they are from.
transducer has 2 cables with gray connectors. large diameter one #m-0025, and small diameter one #m-0475.

i have a 1994 40hp johnson mdl j40tlere with vro. did not get owners manual with boat. wondering how and when to use the vro primer bulb. just pump till resistance is felt kinda like the fuel bulb? anything to beware of with the vro set up? thanks....Bill

how does one adjust shift rod length on 1994 john 40 hp model j40tlere? where do you measure from, and what should the length be ? should the dog leg at the top of the shaft be facing toward or away from you, looking at it from the port side? the shaft got turned as it was being pulled out...

trying to slide water pump body down water pump gear shaft (94 johnson 40hp 2-stroke). can't seem to get the assembled pump body over the drive pin on the shaft. any tips on this procedure? thanks....Bill
