    Attempting a motor rebuild

Makes sense. I wasn't planning to buy parts in advance. Just looking around at where to acquire them. I've found most of them this morning though. Thanks!

Thanks Racerone, will do. Still I would like to be sure I can source these parts. Pretty sure I can, but still looking.

Btw, I used to live in Atlanta and visit there occasionally. I'm not opposed to driving for a good machine shop. Upstate SC as well, if you know of any to recommend.

    Attempting a motor rebuild

I'm working up a list of parts and supplies and sourcing them. This is what I have so far. Any suggestions of what else I need and/ or where to find them would be much appreciated. Wiseco 3151P1 wrist pin bearing set x4 FG1019 GASKET SET or.. Same 27-809754A 1 - Gasket Set OEM bearings...

    Attempting a motor rebuild

I haven't found one yet or started looking. I have a friend that knows of a machine shop, but I need to get their name. He used to rebuild motors, but not outboards. Why is it important that they have outboard experience? But yes, that is a concern I already had, I'm glad you brought it up...

Actually, I'm really looking forward to it. And learning how. I have several of these motors and one with a cracked block that I've disassembled and reassembled to gain familiarity. Honestly, it's surprisingly simple. But I don't want to get cocky either, lol...

I'm not sure I can pull that off without dropping roller bearings all over! But I think it's leaking a bit at the crankcase halves too, so might be time for a full go through... And really, I'm kinda eager to do a full restore on this motor.

    Attempting a motor rebuild

I don't think this motor has ever been apart, judging by paint on gasket edges and bolts. I have a friend online that thought the piston wasn't a true high ring piston. Hard to say for sure. I'll know more when I get it out. I'll post pics...

    Attempting a motor rebuild

Well I just removed the head yesterday. I'll get the motor off the boat , disassemble and send updates of progress! Might be a couple of months as I research more and get all the replacement parts together. Thanks all!
