What do you use to support your outdrive while tightening the big retainers. I have done several reseals using a vise on the skeg but figure one day I may break one off while torqueing that retainer behind the u-joint.
Can a Sierra 2619-1 gasket be used for a 1974 Mercruiser 1 outdrive and bell housing? I have been using Sierra round top gaskets for many years . A local marine parts place sold me one(2619-1) and said it is ok. I just don't want to be replacing the yoke,u-joints and upper oil seals if it is wrong.
