This is great info, and I thank you for this! The new fuel pump works great all through the rpm range. I put new plugs in and am going to test it tomorrow. Im also going to back the idle adjustment screw out if needed.

I just had the no oil alarm issue. Ended up being a broken/cracked fuel splice tube or nipple. You can see where the piece broke off but it is also cracked which let air into the vro system.

i've not been on this forum in quite some time.
my question is that when it rains, i get a decent amount of water in the bilge.
if i cover the cockpit, i do not get any leakage or water in the bilge.
just want to see if anyone has had this issue with a similar boat.
So I have what looks like one 85 gallon tank. There is a switch on the console that says "main" and "aux".
Is there really an axilliary tank or just one single 85 gallon tank?
Also looking for an online users manual.

Is there a trick to getting the shift rod back in its proper position?
I see the flat area of the bottom of the shaft, but can't get it to seat fully? It came out easy, Ha!

Seems like a dumbe question but here goes. How do I know for sure I amm running on both cylinders? Make sure both plugs look the same after running it for a while? Check for spark on both cylinders? I have good compression, 120psi on the top an 110 on the bottom.

I have a 1995 Yachttwin 8HP 2 Stoke. I was wondering what oil most people use. I have been running some off brand and think it may be causing excessive smoke. My mixture is good, 8 oz oil to 3 gallons of gas.

I have all the bolts loose and the powerhead can be rocked a small amount front to back and side to side. It looks like the shift linkage does not come into play on power head removal but I'm not 100% on this. I have the lower unit off, but not the extension.
What else needs to be removed...
Seems like after I warm up, I get enough exhaust coming into the engine cover to make the motor run a bit rough. It's a 8 HP 2 stroke yachttwin, 1995.
I have a new fuel mixture and am running some cheap walmart oil. Should I be using better oil? Maybe a carb rebuild?
