Thank you, todhunter and MikeSchinlaub. Yes, I have worked around the tools for a fair many years, but reminders of the danger are always welcome. I have seen grinder cutting wheels shattering.
Thanks, last time I did not sand enough. This time, I plan on making sure the bond is good. The 7 inch is for the bedding resin, also to speed up grinding. Still chiseling out the old "new" wood stringers.
A little progress today. My order of 16grit disc came today. This is to grind the stringer bedding resin. What grit is good for the final pass to improve adhesion?
I was going to replace the little ribs running perpendicular to the stringers with plywood stringers. Now I am thinking just using 2x2 fir.
Now is there any benefit to using 4lb pour in foam? I also was going to change to a bunk trailer, but my rollers are new and all hardware. Also, it is...
The problem I have is that the stringers are bedded with resin and milled fiber. I will get a few new sawzall blades and try. My diamond 4.5 inch disc does work to a degree.
Well, the easy part is done. Now the harder part, to remove the front stringers and the leftover material. I was thinking of a 4-1/2” Compact Circular Saw, to cut the stringers to near the hull. My 6-1/2" is too big.
While I am removing my stringers, that I installed 3 years ago, I am getting delamination big time. I had ground, wiped with acetone and glassed with 1.5 oz mat and 1708.
What should I do differently this time? Last time I worked outside. Now the boat is in the garage.
Still water under some foam. Will let it dry, some 4.5 inch diamond blades are in on order. I use them to cut the fibreglass. They work extremely well.
More progress this evening. Removal of the section to join floor to motor mounts basses. I certainly am not happy with the quality of the ABX ply that I used. Not sure if it is Auruco. I did not buy it at the Depot.
