@Scott06 it'll go into gear and i can roll around up to roughly 1500-1700 RPM but anything higher and it wants to bog down and die so I'll come off it and it'll keep running.
I pulled the plugs today and all but one we're decently black like it's running rich. One plug was pretty clean however...
I'm at a loss here. My 5.7 Vortec runs like a top in the driveway on muffs but when i put it in the lake under load it can't get above 1700-2000 rpm without sputtering and trying to die. I can put it on muffs in the driveway and take it up to 3k and it purrs but put it in water and it wants to...
I tried doing that pulling it from the ignition coil and after the engine was running there wasn't enough power to trip the relay so the fuel pump would stop running. For now it seems the wire connected to the alternator is working well just wasn't sure if there was a safety issue.
I'm installing an electric fuel pump on a 1991 Mercruiser 5.7. The wiring harness for this boat has almost no keyed power options so I've connected the excite wire to the keyed power on the back of the alternator. Everything seems to function great but I've seen some people say not to do this...
Recently installed a new mercruiser 5.7 vortec long block in in my boat. Everything seems to be fine it's running high oil pressure 60-80psi water temp at WOT is roughly 160 and everything seems to be fine but there is evidence that there is a mist of oil happening inside the engine compartment...
I finished up my first 5.7 votec build and after doing the break in period and running it around the lake for 20 minutes I took it home and drained the oil to replace it with a fresh batch. The engine sounded great during the run but I’d love any impressions on my oil. It’s super nerve racking...
Just finished building a 5.7 vortec. I hooked the red power wire to the switched power on the coil and then grounded the black wire to a grounded bolt. When the engine wouldn’t fire I started checking things out and figured out it wasn’t getting spark until I unplugged the ground wire from the...
I purchased a ATK Vortec long block a while back and while looking through the instal manual it says to do a valve lash adjustment after the running the engine. I was under the impression that if the lifters are hydraulic lifters then doing a second adjustment isn't necessary considering this...

Building a 350 5.7 and want to put it in salt water from time to time but at the end of the day it'll always get trailered and flushed with fresh water. It's a raw water cooled system and I'm wondering what if any additional things I need to build into the motor.
The intake I put on there is...
Trying to find a replacement for the crank pulley for my 5.7. Despite all of my carful storage it seems to have walked away. I'd love to replace it with a nicer pulley but not sure on the spacing needed since i don't have the original part! Anyone replaced theirs with a newer one?
I'm repowering after a cracked block and dropping my old quadrajet (never ending issues with that carb) in the garbage and replacing it with an Edelbrock 1409 Marine Carb and Edelbrock Intake. I'm wondering if anyone has done this switch and if the throttle brackets bolt up or need adaptors.
