It seems like the clutch push rod is too short. This makes me wonder if I have the spring retainer on the wrong side of the spring pin.
Can you confirm that the spring retainer goes on the spring side of the spring pin? Or does is actually go in with the clutch push rod after the spring pin is...

Hi Paul,
That is correct, MFS4A2.
I looked at a parts diagram and just confirmed that all parts have been installed including the spring holder you referenced.
When I just pulled the prop shaft out just now, the cam on the push rod is pointed the correct way as well.
It did seem that I...
Good Afternoon,
I have a 2006 Tohatsu 4 hp 4 stroke. I had to replace the 3 lower unit gears, bearings and seals after the prop hit a rock.

I disconnected the shift linkage from the selector lever on the motor at...
I don't really care what the crank measures. The bearings are on order from yamaha based on the crank #'s (they offer 3 different sizes) I will install and plastigage them to make sure they will work with the crank. It is a low hours motor with no visible wear on any bearing surfaces. Despite...
I've got a 2006 Yamaha F250 that I am rebuilding. The crank has staining on the journals as seen in the photo. Any issues with this? Should I polish the journals or leave one? It is smooth to the touch with no pitting.

Thanks for...

In early July I started to experience rough running condition at idle speed (misfiring)...
I need to replace the power steering pump on my 2000 Volvo Penta 5.7L GS due to a leak at the reservoir, and I was wondering if I can just go to an automotive store and buy an automotive equivalent (GMC Truck with a 5.7L for example)?
Thanks for the help!
On a 10 year old boat what parts should be replaced for preventative maintenance? I don't mean service items like impellers, cap/rotor, belts, etc that have a set life or recommended change out schedule.
What about the items that are never talked about?
-Fuel pump?
-Ignition Coil?
-Relays...
