I took my throttle apart on the merc 888 to pull the side panel trim off and I think but hope against hope that a little gear didn't fall off. The throttle will actuate the throttle cable but not the shift cable. Sometimes it will get stiff and move the shifter about 1/8" but it won't cleanly...

My engine is hard to start w/o starter fluid and will occasionally backfire during this starting process. Also, I am not getting an accelerator pump shot.
