mercruiser 5.0 liter 305, took our new to us 1988 boat out and after about 1 minute of acceleration, the engine stalled. It started back up, but would not go into gear, no prop movement. there was a funny smell. hard to describe. what could this be???? kids are bummed. thanks for any help
