I'm tuning up my neighbors 1988 Johnson 70 HP outboard and he gave me the Clymer manual to use. Problem is the manual covers 1973 to 1987 motors. Seems to be a year short. Basically I want to do a link and sync on it. Does anyone think it would be OK to use the 1987 for this process?<br...
Just installed new Champion L77JC4 spark plugs in a 1988 Johnson 70 HP. Champion calls for the gap to be set at .030" but the Clymer manual says to use .040". I understand the wider gap will foul less when trolling and the smaller gap best for high speed. Does that mean that using .035" gap...
Just joined the forum and found the answers to many questions by searching. The only thing I didn't find was the torque setting for spark plugs. Don't want to learn about helicoils. The engine is a 1988 70HP Johnson MOD J70ELCCA.<br />Can anyone help me out?<br />BTW, this is a great forum...
