I have a 2005 Bayliner 185 with a 135 HP mercruiser 4 cyl. Would a carb spacer or velocity stack give me any extra umph?
We love the boat and it is CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP to run, particularly compared to my old 270 SeaRay which drank about 20 - 22 gallons per hour. Just wondering.

Carbs rebuilt, fuel pump diaphragm replaced, new plugs and tune in June, 08. Ran fine all summer. Took it out in September and ran for 4.5 hours fine and then began a high speed miss. Would run but not at open throttle. Motor picked back up after 10 minutes or so and then laid down again.

Ok. After I replaced the water pump and cleaned out the cooling hoses and pee hole, took my 16' 77 sportcraft w/'74 65 HP 3 cyl. out to fish. Cranked and wouldn't start at the ramp. Jumped the battery and ran for about 15 minutes and then started to miss at high speed, got worse and worse...
First, the questions:
1) Does this motor have a thermostat and poppet valve?
2) If so, where are they located? (Seloc manual does not show)
3) I am not getting water out of pee hole. Any other causes to check?
4) Can overheating cause it to miss?
