1. when I tried to start it I hooked up cables to bat. and jumped the solenoid and didn't get spark. Do I need to give it power elsewhere (the 4 wire plug) to get spark?

I was painting the floor today and noticed a 1/4 hole which looks like some one screwed something down it looks to be metal. Does anyone know what the stringers and or layout is under the floor?
I bought this motor and it looks like there is a 5" extension in the lower unit making it a long shaft? I want to know if I can remove this without replacing the shaft? If these extension was sold as a bolt on with coupler of some sort? Anyone who has ran into one before and would like to share...
