    just checked compression on my 85' johnson gt150 all 90's no 6 70 and the spark was alot less than 7/16 and the plugs were wet with oil

    my new boat (85' )has a on board charger perko i think it is suppose to charge from running the outboard i have 3 batterys hooked to it the settings on the charger are1,2,all,off my question is can i use a trickle charger and if so do i hook to one battery and sellect all and charge all 3

    is a compression tester for a boat same as a car ? how about spark tester? sorry if this is a silly question i would like to fix this boat myself (with your guys help ) and from what ive read thats where i need to begin

    1985 johnson 150 not easy to start

    it is hard to start a lot of choke ( maybe cold natured ) it will idle and will throttle up but not smoothly it dies when in gear and trying to get up on plane , at low throttle in gear runs rough (hicups) but will run the carbs have been cleaned but i did notice the primer ball never pumped...
