I have a 1996 Mercury 25 that starts and runs like a champ. My question is this I have replaced the impeller last year and thrust washers and o-rings but for some reason motor is still a little slower than I would like to spray water. It usually takes a minute or so kinda spits a little water...

Ok i just put a new impeller thrust washers and the o-ring that goes over top the water pump housing and my motor is spraying water through the tale tell but not as good as i would like it to does anyone have any other ideas. Best i can tell the water tube is lined up correctly.
I ran up on a super deal on a Evinrude 40 only thing is the outboard does not have a tilt tube for my teleflex steering cable. How hard is it to install a new tilt tube as it does not appear to be to bad and also can it be done to this motor period.

I have a 1996 mercury 25 el on my little fishing boat . I measured my transom and it is 18 inches. Can i put a short shaft motor on this and if so what are some pro's and con's to doing this please give me some advice guys.
