Noticed oil in the bilge after a day out and find it is dripping from the front crank seal on my 93 Ford 5.0 HO. Not sure if oil pan needs to be dropped or not. Can the seal be replaced without removing the timing chain cover? It looks like removing the timing chain cover would require the oil...
Putting motor back together and in cleaning up the intake I noticed a good bit of corrosion on the gasket surfaces at the back of the intake. (pics below) Most of them around the water port but some along the back bridge as well. I started looking for a replacment but have not found one that...
I am putting my 5.0 back together after some machine work. I am down to putting the rear main seal back in and am not sure which direction it should go. I have looked at the manual and other sources and have not found one that leaves me with no question. Given the amount of work going into this...
Just got my block back from the machine shop and was verifying specs prior to pkutting parts back in. The camshaft that I received from the kit has the standard lobe lift but I see that the OMC manual shows a different lobe lift. I will be getting the rigth camshaft and finally to my question...
Needing to replace my exhaust Y pipe. There is a factory crease in the right side pipe. I found a replacement at the bone yard that does not have the same crease just straight tubes to the transom. When removing the existing pipe I did not see any reason for the crease from an external...

Installed replacement alternator and am seeing output voltage up to 16 volts.
On startup output is 14v and goes up to 16 after a few minutes of runtime.
Can this output level cause issues with the electronics?
Previous alternator got accidentally drenched with saltwater when...
Seems to be a lot of play in steering at idle speeds. Much tighter when on plane. Is there a method for tightening up the steering?
Power steering fluid level is ok, and belt is tight.
I recently replaced the alternator on my 1994 Chris Craft 5.0 HO. After doing so I noticed that I am not getting the low end power I used to and the high end WOT RPM is lower than normal, 3800 - 4000 versus 4400. The engine runs smooth but just seems to lack power.
I did have an instance after...
Curious if someone knows what the riser temp should be on a 5.0 OMC Ford engine. The water temp guage shows around 160 but the risers feel hot. I haven't shot it with an IR temp gun but it is hot to the touch. I can hold my hand on them for a little while. Probably running around 125 degrees.
Pulled the distributor on my 5.0 HO and only have firing order in my engine service manual. I have seen conflicting diagrams on the Internet. I need to know where the #1 plug wire connects to the distributer. Should be able to get the rest from there, thanks.
