Put pontoon in water last weekend and everything ran fine, went out this weekend and had trouble getting into forward.
Cables have not been on or off, nothing worked on recently. Shifter cable seems to move pivot bracket fine both forward and reverse but does not engage gear forward. Looking for...
While successfully(finally) diagnosing and replacing the rectifier, I was running the engine to check charging voltage and forgot to turn the water on to the muffs.
Engine ran for a couple minutes until it self shut down.
Does this engine have thermal protection?

Bought an old pontoon with an '83 35hp Mercury outboard a couple years ago, runs and starts ok but battery will run down after about 4-6 weeks of use during the summer.
If I take it out at night and use the running lights it will run down much quicker. Charges but not much, bought a new battery...
