Anyone have any tricks or tips to correct the gas cap issue on new tanks not venting correctly...plastic tank blows up like baloon on hot days and seems this is normal for this new type of tank....?
1977 mercury 850...so was out on the bay today..was out a cpl hours no prob..had lunch then headed home...was running about 20mph "not WOT" cause it was kinda choppy...out of knowwhere the rpms just dropped and we limped home at 6mph...when i got home i put engine in gear out of the water...

I have a mercury 850...when engine is off in neutral prop spins freely...when i put it in forward or reverse gear prop will not spin freely....does this indicate the motor is going into gear ?
The issue im having is when motor is running and put into gear..prop dosent go into gear..i cant seem...
1977 mercury 850...wont idle.so i dropped one of the float bowls to see how dirty it was...super clean..looks like it was serviced recently..btw just bought it....anyways..when i dropped the float bowl the float pin dropped into bowl...is this normal? ...i put it back in place with rubber...
