I'm gonna attempt to give basic info first.
This is a 1971 20hp (200) twin cylinder merc in the 299.... ser# model.
The motor cranks/runs at idle, and at high idle, but starts cutting out and bogging when trying to accelerate . Realizing that these stators on this make has split of low rpm...

I have a 1971 25hp Evinrude (25103S). I was getting bypass oil up on the points, so I replaced that top seal. It held for a while, but now is leaking by again. I'm thinking that there is possible bearing problems, or the O ring with the top bearing is shot. It appears that the crankshaft is...
I guess you guys have answered this question a few thousand times.......but am wondering if these short shaft outboards will run on a boat with a transom that's 16 inches high. Was looking at my boat, and with a short shaft motor it would appear as if the prop would be about even or higher...

The Rating sticker is faded out......I can't see max horsepower rating at all.

This old motor is a 1971 25HP Evinrude. I'm making some progress now on the bugs in it......one was a worn clutch dog causing the bump(s) at throttle up.
It does appear that a few flywheel keys have been sheared in this thing over the years, as the flywheel has some wiggle in the keyway. So...
