I hadn't thought of aluminum... I'm just assuming the pin that broke was SS mostly based on what I'm seeing online from resellers. I think my wife kept he broken one, I'll need...

I was wondering about brass vs SS. I think the OEM pins are SS but that seems overkill for such as small motor (5HP). I want the pin to shear, and not be so strong that the propeller is damaged.
Would a simple brass rod, cut to size to give me several pins...

I have an old Suzuki DT5 outboard, and my wife snapped our one and only shear pin. Other than at Ebay, I can't find any of the original OEM part (09202-05020) anywhere. It's not made anymore (not surprising considering its a 1983 engine!). It's a 5mm x 27mm pin.
