    Mariner 40C 1986 (Yamaha twin carb) pump base problem

    Just about to replace impeller and gaskets however, pump base (which I cannot afford to replace right now) looks in bad shape. There is a bit of casting missing as shown in pic which is allowing water to pass from inlet through to outlet and externally. I intend to fix this with a metal repair...

    I have a Mariner 40M with a serial number that does not appear to be on any part lists (Serial number: 6E9 S 007614). 2-cylinder 40hp, Manual start, Tiller, Yamaha logo stamped on powerhead.     Telltale not telling!

On starting the engine, the engine starts easy and idles well and revs smoothly but only the odd drip out the telltale at idle or revving.
