Where it's only foam, it doesn't matter as much - I wouldn't grind those areas a whole lot, just clean them well with acetone to remove junk stuck to the surface. Once you have the stringers out, however, you will need to grind a few inches on both sides of where the new stringer goes to get to...

Got some paint on the boat this week. Bottom still needs paint, and the purple stripe on the top will be painted back to white when I get a chance. New canvas, eventually, will be something that goes better with the blue...
Got the tarp off of the boat, the canvas top back on, and moved it into a better position to work on (away from the fence) - that was a couple of weeks ago, and of course it started raining by the time I was putting the roof on the boat.
Anyway, once it was positioned, this is how it looked...

Seems like I'm done any glassing for this season! The white stuff was all gone by noon, but I guess it's time to remove the canvas and get the tarp over it for the winter...

Managing to get a little bit done on the boat in between everything else that is going on. New stringers are in to the front of the cabin, bathroom walls/bulkheads are back in, and the new galley "floor" (between the hull and the main stringer) is in.

Progress has been slower this summer than I hoped - but life is like that...
Still, getting some work done. Temporarily removed part of the wall to the cabin to get better access. All of the rotten wood is removed. New stringers tabbed in all the way to where it meets dry, solid, non-rotted...
Finally a bit more progress (although the beginning of my "week off" was interrupted by having to take a 3 day trip to a family funeral - my aunt unexpectedly passed away).
Started with the "outer" stringers and a bulkhead just ahead of the engine compartment.

Got the plywood cut and laminated for the transom on Friday afternoon. On my other boat, I laminated two layers of 3/4" plywood together - for a total wood thickness of 1 1/2". The outer Glass skin on these Sea Rays is around 1/4". So that meant that I had to add a few layers of extra glass on...

Got the rest of the floor and stringers carved out up to the cabin wall.
Cleaned up the ridges on the floor as close as I could with the saw. The less grinding I have to do, the better!

I originally planned to just pull out the transom rot last night - it was after supper time before I got started on that part - but the transom removal went so easily and quickly that I just grabbed the circular saw, reciprocating saw and shovel and kept going!
